Lunch Box Suggestions

This section will give you a daily school lunch guide for children. One half of a days nutritive requirements are found in the recommended lunches provided below. Sandwiches with a variety of protein fillings are the best school lunch options. Take two slices of bread and spread them with a thin layer of butter and laying them with some filling and cutting them in half for the best lunch box sandwiches. Some of the fillings you can choose from include the following:

Peanut butter spread: Take ¼ cup of peanuts that are salted and roasted and remove the skins before grinding them into a very smooth paste. Mix in either jelly, marmalade or jam with the peanut butter. Spread it on the buttered slices of bread and then place paper thin rings of bananas on top. However, you don’t have to place the bananas on if you don’t want to.

Mutton filling: Mix the butter with a little French mustard and then spread on the bread. Cover with thinly sliced cheese and arrange cooked and shredded mutton on top of that. Then cut into neat halves with a sharp knife.

Chicken filling: Mix together butter and French mustard and spread on the bread. Place slices of cooked and shredded chicken. Then cut the sandwich in half.

Vegetable filling: Spread the bread slices with butter. Place a layer of lettuce leaf followed by thinly sliced cheese and boiled vegetable with a light mayonnaise sauce.

Fish filling: Spread a mixture of butter and French mustard on the bread. Cut neat fish fillets and steam them until completely cooked. Fry the fillets lightly in butter and then place on the sandwich. Place a layer of cheese slices and cut in half.

Egg filling: You will use two eggs, two tablespoons of milk and some salt and pepper for this sandwich. Mix the eggs separately while placing the milk and seasonings in a greased pan. Cook at medium heat while stirring the eggs continuously until they are firm. The eggs can be added to shredded chicken, mutton, pork, kidneys or any vegetables for added variation.

Cheese filling: For this you will need 25 grams of you favorite grated cheese, two tablespoons butter, a finely sliced hard boiled egg, a few coriander leaves, a teaspoon of minced onion, a minced green chili and salt for flavor. Then simply mix all the ingredients and place on the slices of bread.

In addition to these sandwiches be sure to give your child a cup of flavored milk in a thermos flask. Include either a orange, two peaches or 200 grams of grapes or strawberries to carry to school and eat during lunch.
