5 tips to help keep an 'over-active' newborn safe

You can usually tell if your baby is going to be an over-active one straight from the Uterus. And those suspicions will soon be confirmed once you see that diaper changes become wrestling matches, the baby is all over the crib throughout a nap, or when coverings are kicked off.

Active babies are healthy but can they can also prove to be a challenge. This hyperactivity can negatively interfere with your baby's sleeping and eating habits as well. Although you do not want to deter their growth, curiosity, and enthusiasm, when they are active, you will want to learn the important and effective ways to keep them safe and sound, in and outside the crib.

The following tips should of help to you when you have a hyperactive baby:

1. Active babies learn how to roll over from a very early stage and this could prove to be extremely risky, if you are not watching your baby carefully. You should never leave your active baby alone on a bed, or on a changing table, or on any elevated surface, even for a split second.

2. Hyperactive babies can also figure out how to overturn infant seats, if left unsupervised. You should never leave your baby in its infant seat in the center of your bed or on the floor alone, under any circumstances. And obviously you should make sure that your baby is strapped into the seat.

3. The crib mattress should be adjusted to the lowest level when your hyperactive baby starts to sit alone. Next, you may be pulling up and over the sides of the crib for extra safety.

4. If your baby has a habit of kicking off the covers, then use a blanket sleeper in cold weather or cool weather. This will help to keep the baby warm, when otherwise its active kicking habits would abstain the covers from covering the baby.

5. By experimenting, you should find out what soothes your active baby and keeps it calm. This could be soft music, a toy that makes chiming noises or even a humming sound from a fan or something similar. This will also help in relaxing the baby before feeding and sleeping times.
