Beauty Care for the BabyJuices from fresh fruits and vegetables should be given instead of soft drinks. Some form of daily exercise is also important in connection with good food. For girls dancing is the best form of exercise since it makes the body graceful and slim while also giving poise later on in life. Other forms of exercise every child should do include swimming and swinging. For girls swimming can help give a shapely bust line later in life while her height will increase with swinging. Consider taking a tablespoon of gram flour or ‘besan’ and making it into a thick paste with milk cream or arid rose water if your baby has dark furry hair on their face, arms or legs. Before giving a bath rub the paste on the babies skin for a few minutes. This will help remove the hair and also make the skin lighter and brighter. To bleach the hair and make it almost unnoticeable you can apply a little lime juice diluted in an equal amount of rose or plain water to the parts with hair. A child should be taught cleanliness from an early age since it is the foundation of skin care. If a babies skin is kept clean with mild soap and water then the various minor skin rashes during a baby’s first few months will take care of themselves. A lack of proper diet, adequate exercise and sufficient rest will cause a babies soft hair to become thicker and coarser over time. Cleanliness is also very important in addition to diet, rest and exercise. Using baby shampoo you should wash a child’s hair every alternate day. So it doesn’t sting your babies eyes you should use a mild shampoo. Use a towel to dry an infants hair and start by blotting the hair and then rub the scalp gently. Occasionally an infants scalp will get a yellow crust. Apply some baby oil to the spot every day until the condition is cured. For grown children use a beaten egg and add a tablespoon of lime juice and rub it into their scalp then take a bath in two hours. An hour before a bath you can rub unboiled milk into the hair to help prevent a babies hair from being too fine. After a bath if your babies hair is too curly and becoming unmanageable then you can apply some baby oil and plait them. Until you get good results you should do this regularly. Despite keeping your child’s hair clean they will usually get lice and nits, since lice can occur from being in contact with children who are not as clean as your own. Skin diseases can result from lice. So it is important that once you find lice you should use a small packet of camphour and add it to one tablespoon of pure coconut oil until it dissolves. Use your fingertips to dab the oil along several partings of hair. Cover the head with a piece of cloth and tie it once the whole scalp is oiled and leave it for the whole night. Use baby shampoo during a bath or shower the next morning. To keep your child lice free you should do this once a week until they are in school. For nits use hot vinegar to wet the hair thoroughly and then use a fine toothed comb to comb the hair. Since a child never looks their best with greasy hair you should never keep a child’s hair greasy. Before shampooing the hair you can add oil but you should never do it afterwards. To remove split ends and make sure nourishment reaches the entire hair shaft you should trim your babies hair every two months. Hair will start falling and breaking later if you braid the hair tightly or leave it in a ponytail to often. To exercise the feet muscles and make them strong you should encourage your children to run around and play barefoot for some time daily. Make sure a child’s shoes fit properly, their feet are kept clean and you regularly cut their toenails, this will help prevent trouble with the feet later on. To prevent ingrown toenails you should trim them straight across. When your infant starts walking it is best to let them do it on a soft rug where they can grasp with their toes. Doing this will help strengthen the feet and raise the arches. A few times each day you should bathe your babies feet and dry between the toes carefully. You can swab the feet with alcohol after a bath and then dust with Johnson’s prickly heat powder to help control excessive perspiration of the feet. Johnson’s powder not only helps fight prickly heat but it also helps absorb excess perspiration and fight bacteria while giving a cooling and soothing effect. You should have your child wear cotton socks since they are absorbing unlike nylon socks which don’t absorb. Shoes should be both soft and flexible when a child is just learning to walk. Young feet can be distorted by shoes and socks that are too tight. For a baby’s first shoe it should have no heel and laced along with a sole that is tough and flexible so it can conform to the feet’s natural action. A thicker sole and quarter inch heel shoe can be bought once your baby becomes more active. Baby shoes should always be about three quarters of an inch longer than the feet and with squarish toes. You should make sure the back of the shoe is strong. It shouldn’t fit tightly around the heel but at least closely. When an infants nails extend beyond the tips of the fingers they should be trimmed. Nail scissors or clippers should be used to trim the nails. The fingernails should be cleaned using nail polish and warm soapy water. Use a cotton bud to gently push the child’s cuticle back to help prevent hangnails. When hangnails develop it is best to clip it off and apply a dab of Mercuri chrome to prevent an infection from developing. Frequently bruises will appear in the tissue under the nail since children are often getting their hands banged or pinched. When the nails turn black and blue it will typically heal itself, however you should take your child to the doctor immediately if the nail turns red and it swells, becoming sore. Your baby will not only grow up to be beautiful if you give the necessary care and attention during infancy but they will gain the essential qualities for charm which are confidence and poise
